Amaranth for Dogs | Dogs Calcium-Protein
Another Healthy Protein Source for Your Dog
Organic, finely ground and gluten-free, amaranth’s high protein content interpreted by the Greeks as “Everlasting”, and once the sacred food of the Aztecs. Amaranth is a seed the size of the period at the end of this sentence. The most notable nutritional quality of amaranth is its high protein content. With a protein composition of 15%, the Greek interpret this high quality protein as “Everlasting”.
Domesticated more than 5,000 years ago in Mexico, amaranth was once the sacred food of the Aztecs. The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization has encouraged amaranth’s use since 1967 because wherever amaranth is consumed there is little or no malnutrition. Amaranth is extraordinarily nutritious, higher than milk in both calcium and protein, and is a complete protein. Amaranth is also a good source of polyunsaturated fatty acids and contains vitamin E in similar amounts to olive oil. Further, vitamin E helps improve the texture of the dog’s coat and skin and can also help support the immune system.
We grind our organic amaranth to a fine powder to increase its absorption.
